Sphero powered cars

In Room 5 we have integrated our Elearning focus this term of programming and coding spheros with our transport focus. We have made some great modes of transport which needed to be powered by a sphero, able to transport blocks across the library and durable. We designed them all completely on our own according to the brief. This uses great open-ended problem solving skills!!

Room 5 Explorers

In Room 5 we are Explorers. Today we investigated how to make 1000ml or 1L as well as how many cups fit into a bowl and how many ml are in 1 cup. This is part of our current focus on Measurement.

In Room 5 we are Contributors. We discussed our ideas and thought about them and shared them to the group, we had lots of good estimates or 'thinking guesses'.

In Room 5 we are Connectors. We worked together in our groups with a partner to investigate our questions.

Plastic

In Room 5 some of the reading groups are learning about plastic waste and how we can reduce it. We are learning about the history of plastic as well as the need for change. We are creating innovative alternatives to plastic in class. This is inquiry "Action" from our last unit focus last term.

Students are independently planning their own Expert presentations to teach others about this issue that they are super passionate about. Stay tuned for more updates.

Badminton Term 4

This term Room 5 are learning badminton. Today we started with controlling balloons and next week we move onto shuttle cocks. Here are some photos from our PE this afternoon.

Practical Measurement

Much of what we do in Year 2 and Level 1 for Maths is practical based activities which teach students concepts and application. Over the past two weeks Room 5 have been completing a number of measurement problem solving tasks to learn skills and practice of measuring accurately in standard and non-standard units.
